What is anti-reflective glass?
The Reflection of the traditional glass creates a mirror effect which limits the visibility of persons and objects. The anti-reflective glass does not have this unpleasant feature.
Due to the high transparency of anti-reflecting glass, the objects on the other side of the glazing are displayed optimally. The observer is not bothered by the reflection of light or the environment and sees the objects, their contrast and colors truthfully.
Anti-reflective glass is provided with a transparent metal coating which is applied under vacuum to the glass surface. The anti-reflection effect is obtained by applying the coating on both surfaces of the glass. In an insulating glass composition, the anti-reflection coating is brought to the four surfaces.
Applications
- Museum displays and showcases and protection of paintings
- Displays and showcases in shops
- Control Towers, control - and monitoring rooms
- Partitions of supporters boxes on stadiums
- Glazing in panorama restaurants
- Partitions in hospitals, clean rooms, etc.
- Television Studios ( avoid reflections for cameras)
- Translation rooms and sound studios (conference rooms, recording studios, etc. )
- Zoos and aquariums
- Control booths of construction equipment (cranes , tractors, etc. )
- Protective glass of ATM’s
- Signs or billboards in stations, airports, etc.
Benefits
- Very high transparency and better visibility
- Clarity of objects : better contrast and color reproduction
- Easy to maintain : the coating is highly resistant and therefore easy to clean
- Improved profitability : the excellent transparency of anti-reflective glass reduces the cost of artificial lightning
Scoop
From now on it is possible to combine the HR low-e coating with anti-reflective glass. An HR ++ insulating glass can maintain its energy-saving property, while you don’t have any reflection.
Important
The reflection of anti-reflective glass is minimal ( less than 1% in single glass ) but subject to certain lighting, ambient and observation conditions still observable in a purple-red reflection, depending on the observation angle .
The outdoor applications (for example, shop windows) must therefore always be viewed on a large sample on site.
